Kate Cornish is an award winning cinematographer with a flair for shooting bold and dynamic visuals in comedy, drama and commercial work. She is passionate about authentic queer representation in her storytelling.
Most recently, Kate wrapped production on her first feature film, Nugget is Dead: A Christmas Story (Stan/CBS Studios/Easy Tiger). She immediately followed this as DoP for the tv series Optics (ABC/ Easy Tiger), and Season 3 of Netflix’s Heartbreak High to be released in 2025.
Originally, Kate made her mark shooting comedy - most notably for SBS show THE FEED in 2019 where she shot over 150 sketches for television and online.
In 2021, Kate was recognised as an emerging talent and named a Canon Australia Ambassador. Canon granted Kate the support to make a film chronicling the untold story of Australia’s Dykes on Bikes. In 2022 the film was awarded a Silver by the Australian Cinematographers Society in the category of documentary. You can view the film here.
In 2023 Kate was named by Inside Film as a Rising Talent in cinematography. Following this, she was selected as a recipient of the Screen Australia Credit Maker initiative, which won her a role as DoP on 2023 drama Erotic Stories produced by Lingo Pictures.
